Helen Michelle Clark’s new book, Victory is Mine! Vengeance is the Lord’s!, offers a faith-centered approach to emotional and spiritual recovery for survivors of rape and sexual trauma. Grounded in her personal experience, the book addresses the complex stages of trauma — including fear, shame, anger, silence, and the desire for revenge — and presents a framework that emphasizes healing, restoration, and trust in God’s justice.
Clark discusses how trauma can shape a person’s identity, but also how faith can play a central role in rebuilding that identity. Through scriptural teaching and personal testimony, she outlines how releasing the burden of vengeance can open the door to emotional peace, renewed purpose, and a sense of victory rooted in spiritual transformation.
“God didn’t just deliver me — He transformed me,” Clark explains in the book. “When we choose love and allow God to handle vengeance, we don’t lose; we grow. Every scar can become part of a testimony of victory.”
Ahead of the book’s release, Clark connected with readers during a public event hosted by Recompense Publishing at Spill the Beans Coffee Shop in Chicago. The gathering included a live testimony reading, a meet-and-greet, book signings, and open conversations about faith, trauma, and healing.
